FITNESS & DANCE CLASS
DANCE HISTORY SLIDESHOW LINKS SUBMISSION
Syllabus
Welcome to Middle Level Fitness and Dance! Students in this trimester-long course execute and apply a variety of physical strength/endurance activities through aerobic/anaerobic fitness and dance. This class will aid in the development of fitness, dance skill, movement safety, team activities, and to respect physical and performance limitations of self and others. Above and beyond the district curriculum, we will learn the historical connections between music, dances and rights movements through equity education and dance theory. Please contact me with any questions or a request for additional information. Students taking the course for a second time will be challenged with demonstrating previous learning and expanding that knowledge through new projects. Thank you for sharing your talented 7th and 8th graders with me every day!
Fee – to offer a unique dance experience, including exposure to instruction from professional artists, there is a fee associated with this class. You can pay the $15.00 fee by cash, check made out to BHMS, or ONLINE. The class code is P12. Upon completion of an online payment, please bring a receipt to me as proof of payment.
*Please contact [email protected] with any financial questions or to inquire about financial assistance.
Clothing – Students are to use the PE locker rooms or Family Restrooms, and for safety, are required to change into dance fitness clothing which includes: a shirt that follows the school dress code (a T-shirt is best), and sweat/yoga/or capri-length pant or long athletic shorts. This clothing is separate from the PE Uniform which remains in the Gym Locker Rooms. We will dance barefoot or in athletic shoes. Dance shoes are not required but allowed depending on the current dance-form of study.
Materials – Along with appropriate clothing, please bring a single subject spiral and a pencil labeled with your name to remain in the classroom.
